Lou Collins has created this gorgeous page using more Dear Lizzy papers.
"I choose to use the Puddle Play patterned paper because I thought the shapes echoed the water theme of the page. I cut two thick strips of the patterned paper, and laid them above and below my photo. I stuck the photo down flat to the page, but used foam pads to raise the 'waves' up. I then used AC Thickers in yellow as they stood out against the other colors, and a small embelishment at the top to balance the page."

"This photo was taken on a beautiful summers day (when we used to get them!! ) at a friends softplay party in their back garden. I thought the gorgeous bright sunny colours work really well with this collection of papers. I cut the individual elements of the sun out from the Sunrise paper and the wording "let the sun shine in" is cut from one of the postcards. The edges of the page and all of the elements are inked."

Celebrate

Here is another layout I have created using the Portobello Road collection from MME Lost & Found range. I used Kraft as my base & trimmed the paper with the banner on it, saving the banner for another day, the edge of the shaped paper made a great zig zag border strip along the bottom of the layout. Using a craft knife I cut around the "E" of "Celebrate" and slipped the photo under it. I matted the photo onto a few more papers, adding a small scrap which I inked with charcoal chalk ink to the left hand side along with a small chipboard zig zag strip which had been covered in pewter micra mist. The star in the bottom left hand corner was cut from the card I had sprayed the chipboard star from the previous layout on - it left a white star with a huge amount of spray around, which I trimmed down to a border around the white star. The white was too stark for this layout so I used a teabag to stain it bringing it down to cream. the heart on top is a chipboard heart covered in a scrap of paper.I wanted to add a circle to the left of my picture to write my journalling on (an idea blatantly stolen from Lianne that day!!!) but didn't want to use paper. Instead, I used acetate to create a mask over everything except the circle I wanted to create. I then used the pewter and teal micra mists to block colour the semi circle. The journalling was added using a black slick writer.

Challenge Winner

Well the kids are back at school and the summer holidays seem like a distant memory but there have been some great summer moments captured on our enteries for last months challenge. Thank you to everyone who played along we hope you enjoyed it. The design team have had to choose a winner and that winner is......Sutty. We loved the combination of colours that she used creating a wonderful bright, summery page, she has also managed to combine the flower from the tutorial posted earlier. Congratulations Sutty, drop us a line and we will get your e-voucher to you and details of the next challenge.

My Father

When the new Mist sprays came in from That Special Touch, Lianne & I couldn't wait to have a play so we immediately chose the Pewter & Teal sprays & had a quick "mist" onto a piece of 12x12 Bazzill. I promised Lianne that I would turn it into a layout so when we got together for a scrappy day, this was the first layout I tackled.These colours go perfectly with the new Lost & Found "Portobello Road" range from My Mind's Eye so I used those with a picture of my dad snapped last year on the twins' birthday. I matted the photo and then tore strips from the papers and added them below the photo along with a strip of a turquoise Hambly grid overlay. Some cream lace was added and a few chipboard stars & shapes were covered with the mists and added to the layout. Finally a felt swirl was added to tie in the turquoise. The title has been created using AC Text Thickers

Fireman "Sam"?

This photo of James was taken last October in our local play park. He was insistent that he be allowed to go down the fireman's pole, per his older cousin George, with whom he is fiercly competitive! We had to hold him each time he came down but he hugged it tight & squealed with delight.
I've used the new Bella Blvd "One Fall Day" papers - I cut a 12x12 frame from the dotted paper and mounted a 10" square of white Bazzill onto that (in effect gutting the dotted paper to save waste). I then cut two circle frames - one from Kraft and one from the cloud paper, using a craft knife so that I could use the centre of the cloud paper, flipped, as a circle on the layout. These were inked with chalk inks just one shade darker than them and layered onto the white cardstock with the photo. I used my white Inkessential Gel pen and black American Crafts slick writer to create faux stitching around the kraft circle frame.The title has been created using Daiquiri vinyl thickers in chestnut and I have journalled around the outside of the frames. Finally a few clouds were cut from the cloud paper and added to the top left and bottom right corner - the second cloud in the top left corner and that in the bottom right corner was mounted onto foam pads to add height to the layout

Dear Lizzy Frame

This was a very basic, plain frame that I picked up at a discount store. I wanted to make it a 'touchy, feely' project that would go in my Daughters bedroom. The Dear Lizzy Fabric Paper is perfect for this type of project. I simply measured and cut the frame shape out of the fabric paper. Before sticking this to the frame, I decorated each of the circles with either a button, brad or flower, making sure that flowers were curled to add depth. I also stuck some of the Dear Lizzy coordinating ribbon around the inside edge of the square. Once all the glue was dried, I just peeled off the backing paper, and stuck it down over the wood. I did take the glass out first to allow the inside edges to be tucked under the frame, to leave a neat edge. Now it is one of those pieces that no-one can walk past without having to touch!

Hey Chick

My Daughter went on holiday recently and came home with some fabulous photos of her holding a baby chick. The yellows and pinks in the photo matched perfectly with the Dear Lizzy Spring range, so I selected the striped patterned paper to back the photo onto. Using a sheet of white bazzill for the background highlighted the pretty pastel colours of the Dear Lizzy paper. I kept the embellishments close to the photo to maintain a large white space making the photo "pop" off the page.

I don't know about you but I love being able to create my own embellishments for my scrapbook pages. Lou has made this stunning page using Fancy Pants Like Father Like Son papers and has embellished the page with three handmade flowers.

I have had a go at creating the flowers and put together a step by step guide for you.

You will need....

Circle punches in 3 different sizes

A piece of double sided patterned paper

Adhesive

Ink or paper distresser

Silicone glue or foam pads

Punch out your largest circle, this will form the base of your flower.

You will need 7 circles using the middle sized punch.

The smallest circle will form the centre of your flower, you could use the middle sized circle if you prefer.

I have inked all the edges of the circles both front and back but for an alternative look you could distress them.

Fold both sides of each circle in to create the shape below. Glue the bottom section together.

Add some glue to the centre of your base circle and start adding your folded circles leaving a small gap between them.

When you have added all the circles it should look something like this.

To finish add the smallest circle to the centre of the flower using silicone glue or a foam pad. Lou has also added a button.

Don't forget this months challenge, all you have to do is create a summery page and include distressing somewhere on your layout.
