CHA - Day 2...

We woke up raring to go today with a stack of completed order forms to be handed in and a to-do list as long as International Drive itself, we started with a yummy breakfast of french toast at Dennys and made our way to the convention centre. Lots more pics for you, there was so much to see!

Lovely sample layouts from the talented My Little Shoebox design team:

Crate were just gorgeous as usual, they seem to get better and better with each release:

Lovely samples from Bella BLVD, such a pretty stand:

There was so much more that we saw and stroked but those will have to wait for another day! We had a fab dinner tonight with Lorraine and Janice from Scrapagogo, such a fun time and some light relief at the end of a long day. Thanks so much for the giggles ladies!
We'll be back soon with more goings on at CHA,

CHA - Day 1

Well, it was a busy one! We had such a fantastic first day at the show, taking it all in and excitedly dashing between manufacturers choosing our favourite paper lines. Here are some piccies for you:

There were lots of lovely new American Crafts goodies, we fell in love with these new patterned albums, the embroidered designs are stunning!

Gorgeous new puffy Glitter Thickers:

Lots of new embellies including pearl and bling brads and very sparkly glitter buttons:

Fabulous ranges from Jillibean Soup:

More great displays from Sassafras, we loved these cute felt monsters:

We had lots of work to do in the evening so sat in our hotel room with a pile of order forms and the most delicious (and fattening!) pizza ever. It was such an exhausting day but a very productive one - day 2 update coming soon!

Our other obsession...

Okay, so we love to scrap and stroke scrappy related things, but our other obsession - confession time - is make-up, or cosmetics if you're posh! Today we visited our favourite cosmetics shop of all to get all the help we desperately need...

Oooooh, Benefit loveliness...

We spent ages playing with all the samples and spent more than we should have but are now fully stocked up until our next visit.

We had a lovely relaxing day that started with a swim in the hotel pool followed by shopping at the Florida Mall. The real fun starts tomorrow though on day 1 of CHA, be sure to come back for some piccies of what we're drooling over and what's coming soon to Sarah's Cards.

We're here!

We've had our first full day in Orlando and boy have we made the most of it!

We were up to see the sun rise and swimming in the fabulous hotel pool by 8am having eaten fresh fruit for breakfast (how good are we????).

It was then time nip across the road to the Convention Centre to register for CHA. We now have our badges but as the show proper doesn't actually start until Tuesday, what's a girl to do??? In Orlando? Why shop of course! We headed off to one of the many Malls in Orlando.

We shopped shopped shopped our little socks off. A little retail therapy does a girl good, you know? We exercised some restraint but here's a picture of some of our "treasure"....

Whilst shopping, Orlando experienced the most amazing Thunder storms. We were prepared for these but the second lasted much longer than anticipated. We consoled ourselves with food and cocktails at The Cheesecake Factory. Yum!

It was then a quick trip across the road to Target to pick up some presents for the kids before back to the hotel. A fabulous first day in Orlando

We will leave you with some pictures from our hotel window................

And tomorrow the fun begins - can't wait to see everything in the flesh and start choosing products for the shop, crops, retreat & kits for the next 6 months!!

Crate Paper Orbit

Lou has done some absolutley gorgeous layouts using Crate Papers Orbit range, I just love how she has managed to add so much texture and dimension to her pages by tearing and rolling the paper.

"When I first saw these papers as a new release from CHA I knew I had to have them! I ordered a set and the matching stamps then after a few strokes they sat in an art bin watching new papers being bought and being used, seeing older papers being selected and used.... why? because each time I looked at them I felt a bit daunted about how to actually use them! I have to say though that once I sat down with no other papers in front of me I found them really easy to use.The designs are quite busy and it would be easy to 'overpower' a LO. Using the reverse sides of the busiest patterned papers and creating layers with different papers/card/die cuts helps to create a busy but balanced LO. The Martha Stewart border punch and the scallop circle punches I used were great at echoing the circle designs in the papers, and added more interest to the LOs. When using double sided papers I also like tearing and folding back the edges/corners so that somthing can be slotted behind.... in this case the cute little stamps were perfect just peeping out. The alpha stickers are really versaitile as they come in 3 colours, so if you run out of a letter in one colour you can just mix it up and it all coordinates nicely. I machine stitched around my '2 minutes' title and roughed the edges to add a bit of texture. On 'cute finger sucker' I used a marker pen to outline each sticker so that they didn't get lost on the busy background."

Sarah and Lianne are off to CHA in Orlando tomorrow so check back here to see what they get up to and have a peek at some of the new products that are going to hit the shop!

mixing it up!!

Rachel has been mixing things up a bit using products from different manufacturers to create a layout,

I am a big fan of mixing brands when it comes to scrapbooking. On this layout i have used Crate, Sassafras and Fancy Pants all of which are available at the shop. I know some people find it hard to mix brands but it can be really easy. I started off with the Sassafras Bungle Jungle - Tree Top which was a cut off i had from a previous layout and kind of built it around that. As i tend not to use bazzill i picked a piece of Crate Paper Lillian - Home although it didnt have the orange of the sassafras that was a good thing as it may of clashed a little too much. I took certain elements from the crate collection but not all from the Lillian i used Crate Paper Little Sprout - Frolic, Crate Paper Lillian - Blissful, and Crate Paper Lillian - Harmony . At this point I thought I was using a little too much crate so dug deep in my stash and found Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts - Princess Sky and found it picked up the colours I has already used. I added a last piece of Fancy Pants Delight, tied it all together with a bit of red hand stitching. Hope you have fun mixing it up.

JUDI!

Judi said...
Well this has caused a few comments in my house. I asked my daughter what colour I would be. she said green....a sort of forest green because she thinks I am natural, homely, organic and comfortable. Her boyfriend chimed in to say that it makes me sound like an armchair. I'm not sure if all that is a compliment. LOL. I probably would have said green myself as I wear it a lot but in sort of sagey colours. I'm really a rainbow person. I find deep joy and meaning in all the colours of the rainbow. It's been a lot of fun reading all the comments..... i love pink too.

We think it was the armchair comment that did it for us!

Congratulations Judi, please e-mail your full name and address to info@sarahscardsltd.com and your prize will be sent out to you.

Thank you so much to everyone who entered, we really enjoyed reading through the comments.
Happy Scrapping!

Skipping Along.

Stamps and punches are such versatile scrapbooking tools and I am sure that the majority of us have a small hord of them in our craft space. When Sarah sent me these gorgeous papers by Pebbles Inc I decided that I want to create a layout using less patterend paper than I would usually use but create detail using stamps and punches.

Stash Needed.

Pebbles Inc Skipping Along papers.
Cardstock, brown and green.
American thickers.
Bazzill just the edge.
Alphabet stamps.
Date stamp.
Journaling stamp.
Crop a dile or hole punch.
White pen.
Foam pads.
Black pen and inkpad.

1. Cut a semi circle out of the "carefree" paper and scallop the curved edge. Then using either a hole punch or a crop a dile create a holey border. Ink all the edges of your paper including the edges of the holes with black ink.
2.Cut out a large rectangle out of "The pathway" paper and stick it towards the top of your cardstock and then stick your scalloped piece on the bottom. Doodle around the scallop.
3. Using a journaling stamp create a journaling black and tuck it down behind the carefree paper on the left hand side.
4. Add a strip of bazzill just the edge flowers along the join of the two pieces of patterned paper.
5. Use a 7x5 photo and round the corners, matt it onto a piece of green cardstock and round those corners too. Stick this onto your page.
6. Stamp your title and stick it onto your page, fix some letters flat onto your layout and others using foam pads.
7. Cut out some flowers from "The Garden" layer them onto the right hand bottom corner of your photo, build up the corner using buttons, stamps and punched butterflies.
8. Punch some butterflies and add them to your page using embroidery thread to fix them and create their bodies. Also use some from a butterfly bazzill strip.
9. Add your sub title, journaling and some of the little dots that come on your sheet of American Thickers.

Vintage Yummy

Rachel has done this great layout using the beautiful Sassafras Lass Vintage Yummy range.

Be bold and beautiful
These sassafras papers are lush, but as much as I love patterned paper these papers are a tad intimidating, they are busy busy but fabulous. But just go for it, The more colour the better, breaking this layout down it is really simple which is all it needs to be. So take a deep breath and just use it!
